MANNA

He was the solitary reason why we landed around the Telok Ayer Street during the Chinese New Year's Eve, which for us non-chinese find it odd that the streets of Singapore during these days were practically deserted (read: ghost town), gives one an eerie feeling you're transported to another zone where nobody is roaming around except "angmohs", as the locals say it...well, we were one of those ( angmohs pertain not specifically to white people...foreigners generally)

Reserved a room for 7 people but ended up with six... originally over the phone, any room will do but on the spot, can't help it, I really need to request to have my meal on this authentic Korean resto on the very room and table where Rain had his own fill...our hostess ...MO from Myanmar was quite gracious to grant my wish...abrakadabra! This was mounted outside the two rooms where Rain and his entourage actually dine on January 19, 20 and 22 during his stay here in Singapore (whew! almost everyday!) it's aptly documented on the laminated signThe rooms were separated by a wooden sliding door, and really used the chair that didn't have legs on it...We were given the bigger one...once settled we actually bombarded Mo with paparazzi-like questions (poor Mo...seemed overwhelmed with our silly questions)And of course, we cannot just simply sit down and gobbled up right? needs the photo-op with the laminated sign...Then off we go... started of with the ban chan, kimchi, soya bean sprouts, pancake, macaroni salad, salted peanuts, and ikan bilis which unbiasedly we say that theirs were yummier than the last week Korean resto we've been to...ahem! really...Mo says this ones Hae-mul Jeon-gol This trip will be futile without the star of the show...BIBIMBAP! here they call it DOLSOT bibimbap, Mo says (read:moses? la lang...) dolsot means hot stone...so our mixed rice, veggies and Bulgogi beef was cooked in a hot stone...strangely this bibimbap tasted more delicious...hmmmKim-chi Chi-gae- this is a set of Bulgogi beef, chicken and pork...again yummier than the previous one we tasted
again we tried to guess if here in an authentic Korean resto the dessert would be different, ah eh ih oh... yup...i'm getting the feeling its watermelon they usually served as dessert... this one is complimentary...it's Ginger tea...(it's salabat guys!)some of us liked it...or were some of us just too damn biased hahaha
This was recommended by the manager as we keep on asking what did Rain actually ordered aside from bibimbap and sotong, he pointed on this one, a seafood soup with mixed veggies, of course it's yummy but not to mention it's a very spicy yummy one...this we will highly recommend if one has a blocked nose...instant unclogging ...oh what a relief it is! Unclogged nose? yeah, I'm fine! aebee seems to be just fine with it! wa wa wi wa! the very same spoon that Rain used to scoop his bibimbap!!!! Oh my, my...this were the chopsticks used by RAIN?!!!hi hi hi! The 'yeah-food-is-good-but-please-spare-me-from-Rain pose'... (just bear with them honey!!! food was nice right?) Can, can... The 'pa-cute' pose... was brought to you by dolsot bibimbap! Group pic as we requested our waitress to take, this was the better one as the other was a bit too blurry, food were superb and all smiles for having been able to eat where Rain actually devoured his bibimbap and sotong...got leg cramps though we were not used to indian sit while eating ( wonder how Rain did that? he got long legs?hmmm) Satisfied with the meal, Sonny trying to pose as somebody famous (not Rain though...), much gratitude to this guy for always supporting our irrational cravings... After the sumptuous authentic Korean cuisine we sampled, no meal is complete without a photo-op with The Man- RAIN of course...although it's just his autographed pic encased in a glass with his concert's poster slated last January 21, 2007 ( again details can be viewed from my very first entry). It is situated right at the entrance of the resto, side by side with another K-pop artists the group Shinhwa ( not really familiar with them)...with bouquets of flowers (like an altar actually, hmmmm) but no incense....The Manager even jokingly giving us the framed autographed pic...which we gladly took it from him, but he got it back from us when he realized how serious we were to really bring it home...huh! of course we will...

VERDICT: Manna's food was actually yummylicious and as they claimed it theirs were as authentic as you can get...we're wondering...why not we taste Korean meals in...KOREA no less!
